In 1972, Deroyce Volzke opened Volzke Mortuary in Seward, Nebraska. He was the sole operator until 1994 when his son, Jeff, joined his father as a funeral director in the family business. The name was changed to Volzke Funeral Home. After Deroyce’s retirement in 2016, Jeff took ownership of the funeral home.  Volzke Funeral Home is the only funeral home in Seward County that has been owned and operated by the same family for over 51 years.
