Volzke

Lorna was born on the family farm near Waco, NE on November 9, 1918, to Joseph and Anna (Wiemer) Knorr. She was baptized on December 8, 1918 at St. John Lutheran Church, Waco, NE. Lorna was then confirmed on May 15, 1932 also at St. John Lutheran Church, Waco, NE. On January 26, 1941, Lorna was united in marriage to Wilbert Schmieding at St. John Lutheran Church, Waco, NE. They lived on a farm north of Utica until their retirement and then moved to Utica. Lorna passed away on August 25, 2010, in York, NE at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 16 days. She is survived by eight children and spouses Jean Lehmann of Dallas, TX; Jane and Dale Tech of Avoca, IA; Myron and Donneta Schmieding of Utica, NE; Evie and Dan Barrett of York, NE; Verla and Dean Blum of McCool Junction, NE; Merle and Janis Schmieding of Gresham, NE; Joe and Carol Schmieding of Seward, NE and Ed and Idona Schmieding of Gresham, NE; two brothers and their wives, Erich and Geraldine Knorr of Waco, NE and Clarence and Shirley Knorr of York, NE; three sisters, Esther Fehlhafer, Florence and John Fehlhafer and Erna Staehr all of Utica, NE; sister-in-law, Donna Belle Knorr of Pleasant Hill, MO; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbert; son-in-law, Gus Lehmann; grandson, Jason Barrett; brother and his wife, Walter and Frieda Knorr and brother Norman Knorr; sisters, Palma and husband Herman Fehlhafer; sisters, Vera and Martha Knorr; brothers-in-law, Otto Fehlhafer and Larry Staehr.
