Obituary:

Alvin Leo Suhr was born on March 23, 1926 near Shelby, Nebraska to Edward and Maria (Fritz) Suhr. He attended schools in Butler and Seward Counties and graduated from Seward High School in May 1944. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from June 1944 to June 1946 as a Seaman on the USS Rockwell in the Pacific Theater and spent 7 months in China. On October 3, 1948, Alvin was united in marriage to Betty Schaefer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Staplehurst. He spent over 50 years in the insurance industry in Seward and Lincoln. He was a member of the Seward V.F.W. Post #4755, American Legion Post #33, St. John Lutheran Church and was a past member of the Seward City Council. Alvin passed away in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 7 months and 7 days. He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Larry) Zillig, Lincoln, Nebraska, Patricia (Larry) Stanton, Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska; grandchildren, Rachel (Drew) Kelley, Larry J. (Jennifer) Stanton, Eric (Stephanie) Zillig, Kyle (Elizabeth) Zillig; great grandchildren, Morgan and Mason Kelley, Logan, Tyler and Jameson Stanton, William, Emma, Annalise and Madison Zillig; sister-in-law, Phyllis Suhr; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Sandra Suhr; brother-in-law, Earl Cooksey; nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Maria Suhr; wife, Betty Suhr; sisters, Irene (Carl) Matzner, Elverna (Floyd) Baack; brothers, Wilbur (Dorothy) Suhr, Lloyd Suhr, Dale (Betty Lou) Suhr, Wayne Suhr; sister-in-law, Karen Cooksey.
