Cleo Ellen Nielsen was born on July 18, 1933 to Herbert August Frederick and Ella Lottie (Bruegman) Krohn in Bloomfield, Nebraska. She attended school through the twelfth grade. She worked at Federal Land Bank in Hartington, Nebraska. On June 13, 1956, Cleo was united in marriage to Ralph Nielsen in Bloomfield, Nebraska. She helped Ralph on the farm and did bookkeeping. Cleo also worked at the Goehner Elementary School, ASC office in Seward, Columbus Federal Bank in Seward as a bank teller and as a waitress at Johnson’s Cafe and Seward Country Club. Cleo then worked for and retired from the Seward County Independent. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, spending time with family & friends, cheering on the Huskers, Nebraska history, puzzles and traveling when she had the chance. She always said “if the wheels are turning, her bag is packed”. Cleo passed away on November 23, 2018 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 5 days. She is survived by her son, Eric (Jamie) Nielsen, Knoxville, Tennessee; daughters, Kristianne (Randy) Bower, Ceresco, Nebraska, Jolene (Corey) Nichelson, Goehner, Nebraska; grandchildren, Stephanie, Richard, Tyler, Zachary and Joshua Hestermann, Courtney, Shane and Carson Cone, Sara, Michael, Brandon, Elissa, Kynlee, Matthew, Keri, Henry and Caleb Bower, Natalie and Brandon Ariza, Rachel Nichelson, Georgia Roth, Jozeph and Emery Percival, Chloe Nielsen, Nate Plyler, Holly Nielsen, Hayden Smith; sisters, Marilyn True, Bloomfield, Nebraska, Eileen Sprouls, Platte Woods, Missouri, Doris (Dean) Mackeprang, Bloomfield, Nebraska; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry and Betty Nielsen, Crofton, Nebraska, Dan and Donna Nielsen, Wausa, Nebraska.
