Obituary:

Duane was born on November 24, 1932 to Clarence F. and Frances E. (Watson) Daake near Goehner, NE. He graduated from Seward High School in Seward, NE in 1950. He then attended the University of Hawaii and Oceanside California College and earned an Associates Degree in Business. On May 16, 1953, Duane was united in marriage to Sylvia Nadeen Dierberger in Utica, NE. Duane was a farmer for 37 years and retired in 1997. He was also a seed corn salesman for more than 50 years. Duane was an Eagle Scout, as were his sons, brothers and grandson. He was a member of the Utica United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, American Legion Post #49, Boy Scouts of America and Order of the Arrow. He was also a past member of Utica Jaycees and the Centennial School Board. Duane served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951-1960 and served during the Korean War. He received Full Military Honors. Duane passed away on November 11, 2014 in Seward, NE at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 18 days. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia N. Daake, Utica, NE; sons, Michael T. Daake, Ft. Myers, FL, David L. and Betty Daake, Waco, NE; brother and sisters-in-law, Jerry and LaRue Daake, John Day, OR, Dale and Joyce Daake, Milford, NE; brother-in-law, Dick Knapp, Waverly, NE; sister-in-law, Janet Fortson, Lincoln, NE; granddaughters, Ronda and Bill Perks, San Diego, CA, Bobbi Jo and Dan Garvel, Cumming, GA, Kimberly and Dale Mundil, Uehling, NE, Monica and Scott Toovey, Utica, NE; grandsons, Dustin and Michelle Daake, Matlache, FL, Alex Daake, Utica, NE; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Ryker and Dane Garvel, Aloni Daake, Dylan Brooks, Emi Jane Daake, Kaitlin and Kinsley Mundil, Tyler Toovey. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence F. and Frances E. Daake; sister, Donna Knapp; brother-in-law, Jack Fortson; sister-in-law, Delight Schluckebier.
