Obituary:

Janet Ann Tonniges was born on June 6, 1944 in Aurora, Nebraska to Daniel and Arline (Evans) Graves. She spent her childhood on a farm near Polk, NE. After graduating from Polk High School in 1961, she attended the Lincoln School of Business. Janet married Norman Folts on November 25, 1961. To this union, three children were born, Jeff, Randy, and Angela. Besides spending time with her family, Janet enjoyed touring the countryside with Norm on a motorcycle. She took her camera everywhere she went, always trying to find the artistic side of things. On October 6, 1990, Janet married Ronald Tonniges. They made their home north of Utica,NE raising and training horses. Janet’s home was a gathering place for her children, stepchildren, and her grandchildren. Family and friends were always welcome at Janet’s house. Ron and Janet enjoyed hosting annual July 4th parties, birthday parties and could find any reason to invite a few friends over to sit out back and enjoy the view. Janet was an entrepreneur. She helped Norm establish a successful insurance agency, ran the office for R & L Mobile Homes, and helped Ron establish RollinT Quarter Horses. She spent the last 16 years working as a program technician for the USDA Farm Service Agency. She always challenged herself by keeping up with technology. She operated the RollinT website and managed a website for the horse club. Janet was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She showed us all how to handle life’s trials with grace and dignity. Janet would want to remind everyone to treasure each day by loving, laughing, and sharing a glass of wine. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Ronald Tonniges of Utica, NE; her children, son Jeff Folts of Omaha, NE, son Randy Folts of Omaha, NE and daughter Angela (Joe) Oberle of York, NE; stepson Douglas Todd (Holly) Tonniges of Thayer, NE, stepdaughter Lori (Bill) Batt of Utica, NE, daughter-in-law Susan Tonniges of York, NE; grandchildren Rachel Folts of Omaha, NE, Layton and Dylan Oberle of York, NE, Matthew (Megan) Tonniges of Ravenna, NE, Lucas (Jaclyn) Tonniges of Texas, Elizabeth Tonniges of Fremont, NE, Genevieve and Shasta Tonniges of Thayer, NE, John Tonniges of Gresham, NE, Jessica and Amy Tonniges of York, NE, James and Mark Batt of Utica, NE; great-grandson Grant Batt. Other survivors include her brothers Daniel E. (Joyce) Graves of Bradshaw, NE and their children, Shay (Timothy) Burke of Hastings, NE ; Daniel A. Graves of Benedict, NE; and Kevin (Shannon) Graves of Bradshaw, NE and their children Evan and Reva. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Norm Folts; and stepson Rod Tonniges.
