Martha was born on May 3, 1914 to Harry and Jennie (Coburn) Leach in Nash, Oklahoma. Martha attended school through the twelfth grade in Carleton, Nebraska. On March 29, 1935 Martha was united in marriage to Harold Cooksey in Fairbury, Nebraska. From this union came one son Earl Cooksey. Before her retirement, Martha was employed at Exeter Nursing Home as a Food Service Supervisor and then at St. John Lutheran School in the kitchen. Martha had many friends of all ages. She always had a smile on her face and never had a harsh word to say. Martha passed away on February 5, 2012 at Seward Memorial Hospital at the age of 97 years, 9 months and 2 days. Martha is survived by her son and his wife, Earl (Nancy) Cooksey, Seward, NE; two grandsons and their wives, Robert (Dawn) Cooksey, St. Louis, MO; Brian (Michele), Seward, NE; seven great grandchildren, Anna, Sarah, Aaron, Griffin, Samuel, Britton and Zachary; and special friends Esther, Evelyn, Velma, Leona, Darla and Sharon. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Harold; daughter-in-law Karen Cooksey; five brothers and two sisters.
