Norman Gene Luebbe was born on February 16, 1931 to William J. and Anna B. (Schmersal) Luebbe in Ruskin, Nebraska. He was baptized on March 1, 1931 at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ruskin, Nebraska. He was confirmed on March 25, 1945 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Staplehurst, Nebraska. He attended school in Staplehurst through the tenth grade. He attended the World Wide College of Auctioneering, Inc. in Mason City, Iowa, receiving his diploma on December 10, 1986. He enlisted in the Nebraska Army National Guard in 1950, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant and was discharged in 1959. On October 25, 1951, Norman was united in marriage to Naomi Ueckert at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, Nebraska. Norman was self-employed as a farmer. He also owned and operated “The Auction Team” from 1986 to 2014. In his free time he enjoyed auto and tractor repair and restoration. He also liked to fish, hunt and travel. He volunteered for various organizations in the community. He enjoyed singing and socializing. He especially loved to spend time with friends and family. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward serving on many boards over the years, including: School Board, Board of Elders and Lutheran Laymen’s League. He was a member of American Legion Post 178 in Beaver Crossing and a Lifetime Member of the Nebraska National Guard Historical Society. Norman was a Charter Member of Seward County Izaak Walton League and a past-president of Ruby COOP. He was also a 20 year member of Seward County Groundwater Association. In 1984, Norman was the recipient of the Aksarben Pioneer Farm Award. He was awarded Seward County Hall of Agriculture Achievement in 2014 and he also received Seward County Volunteer of the Month by the GFWC Seward Womens Club. Norman passed away on December 26, 2018 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 10 days. He is survived by his wife, Naomi Luebbe, Seward, Nebraska; sons, Bruce Lynn Luebbe, Milford, Nebraska, Brent Lyle Luebbe, Seward, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Sherry (Dave) Leising, Seward, Nebraska; brothers, Ron (Cheryl) Luebbe, McCool Junction, Nebraska; sisters, Elaine (Ralph) Luethke, Seward, Nebraska, Miriam (Lyle) Ostermeier, Rising City, Nebraska, Arlene (Ted) Luebbe, Fairbury, Nebraska; grandchildren, Brandon (Kristine) Luebbe, Staplehurst, Nebraska, Renee (Jeremy) Pracheil, Seward, Nebraska, Stephanie (Ross) Cradick, Utica, Nebraska, Tyler (Morgan) Luebbe, Seward, Nebraska, Austin Luebbe, Milford, Nebraska; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Gracie and Connor Pracheil, Tinley and Grady Luebbe, Clayton, Liam and Reagan Cradick, Lennox Luebbe. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Anna B. Luebbe; sons, Steven G. Luebbe and Gary A. Luebbe; brothers, Marvin (Beverly) Luebbe, Dwayne Luebbe, Dennis Luebbe.
