Walter was born on February 19, 1912, on the family farm near Gresham, NE to George and Anna (Matzner) Richert. On February 24, 1935, Walter was united in marriage to Gertrude Luebbe at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church (Middle Creek), Seward, NE. They lived on a farm near Gresham, NE. Walter passed away in York, NE, on October 31, 2006, at the age of 94 years, 8 months and 12 days. He is survived by two sons and their wives, Armand and Zoe Richert, Gresham, NE and Albert and Pat Richert, Waco, NE; two daughters and husband, Anna Richert, Gresham, NE and Edna and Rev. Philip Zarling, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren and spouses, Keith and Kristine, Scott and Monica, Eric and Patty, Lee and Chelsey Richert and Karma and Clint Ridpath, Tammy and Kelly Koepsell, Wendy and Chad Colson and Stacey, Joel and Tiffany Zarling; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Zachary, Ava, Melissa, Kyle, Amy, Trey, Dillon and Ryan Richert, Matthew and Aaron Koepsell, Makena Colson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Irene Luebbe, Seward, NE, William Luebbe, Utica, NE, Wilhelmina Giesman, Pickrell, NE, Henry and Bernice Luebbe, Seward, NE, Arnold and Eleanor Luebbe, Seward, NE and Elsie and Lovelle Kracke, DeWitt, NE.
