Carroll E. "Tex" Eberspacher

Carroll “Tex” Eberspacher of Friend, Nebraska was born on October 6, 1938 to Floyd and Ruth (Myers) Eberspacher in Seward, Nebraska. Tex, the youngest of 5 children, grew up on the home farm. He went to Glendale County School and graduated from Milford High School in 1956. While there he played football and was on the Championship team.  In January of 1957, Tex went to Nebraska School of Barbering in Omaha, graduating in June of 1957. Following graduation, he took over his grandfather’s barber shop in Milford. On December 14, 1958, Tex was united in marriage to Margaret Schlegel in Milford and they were married, just two weeks shy of 67 years. They had two sons, Rex and Kurt. In August of 1973 Tex bought the shop in Friend and was there his entire career. He also cut hair in Ulysses, Dorchester, Friend, Milligan, Fairbury, Mesa-Arizona, Lincoln LCC, rest homes and in Harvard on Mondays for 29 years. He was named Citizen of the Year in 2015. He received his 60 year Masonic Lodge pin this past summer and was a Shriner for 50 years. He helped to organize and operate the first EMT Unit for the Milford Fire Department. In his free time, Tex enjoyed playing pitch, gardening, watching Nebraska volleyball, playing shuffleboard and going to Mesa, Arizona. He loved fireworks. Tex passed away on December 1, 2025 in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Eberspacher of Friend, Nebraska; sons, Rex Eberspacher (friend, Amber Wood) of Omaha, Nebraska and Kurt (Cindy) Eberspacher of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Shane (Rachel) Eberspacher, Matthew (Megan) Eberspacher, Gunner Eberspacher, Stormy Eberspacher (friend, Jim Van den Bosch), Lacey Dalton (Eric) Bird; great grandchildren, Rhett and Rowan Eberspacher and Maddie Eberspacher, Ezra, Eliza, Elliott and Everett Bird; step grandchildren, Nick (Jenny) Donahue and Kelly (Chelsie) Donahue; step great grandchildren, Landon, Ocie, Cameron, Cayden and Cooper Donahue. Tex was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ruth Eberspacher; brothers, Lowell Eberspacher, Max Eberspacher and Glen Eberspacher; sister, Phyllis Brockhoff.
