Christopher Michael Van Ooyen

Christopher was born on September 28, 1972 to Roger and Linda (Geiger) Van Ooyen in Hammond, Indiana. He attended Centennial Grade School in Utica, Nebraska from kindergarten through third grade. He then finished elementary school through high school in Seward, Nebraska, graduating from Seward High School in 1990. He then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1996. Christopher was a self-employed artist. In his free time he enjoyed cycling and mushroom (truffle) hunting. He was also a huge Star Wars fan. Christopher loved his pets, Han (dog), Tuesday and Bubba (cats). Christopher passed away on October 10, 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 45 years and 12 days. He is survived by his parents, Roger and Linda Van Ooyen, Seward, Nebraska; brothers, Anthony "TJ" (Ashley) Van Ooyen, Cotopaxi, Colorado, Danial "Danny" Van Ooyen, Lincoln, Nebraska; nephews, Wyatt and Andrew Van Ooyen; grandmother, Doris Geiger, Seward, Nebraska; ex-wife, Kristin Bruning, Maine; aunts, uncles and cousins. Christopher was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Geiger; grandparents, John & Clara Van Ooyen.
