Dale Duane Tonniges, a beloved farmer and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, in Seward, Nebraska. He was 88 years old. Born on January 23, 1936, to Richard and Edna (Ehlers) Tonniges, Dale grew up on the family farm near Staplehurst, Nebraska. He graduated from Seward High School in 1953 and served his country in the Nebraska Army National Guard. On August 18, 1985, Dale married the love of his life, Harriet Gustafson, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Staplehurst. Together, they shared a deep love for farming and the land. Dale was a dedicated farmer, spending countless hours tending to his crops and livestock, often accompanied by his loyal canine companion. Dale was a devoted follower of Christ and a steadfast member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Staplehurst, NE, holding numerous positions within the congregation, serving faithfully and tirelessly. His dedication to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a longtime member of the Tamora Fire Department, demonstrating his commitment to his community. In his later years, Dale found joy in restoring vintage tractors. He took great pride in showcasing these restored machines, often driving them in local parades. Dale was a kind and caring individual who always had a smile on his face. He was a loving husband and a cherished uncle, known for his generosity and unwavering support. Dale will be deeply missed by his wife, Harriet, and numerous other loved ones. Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Edna (Ehlers) Tonniges, Brother & Sister-in-law Virgil & Frances Tonniges, Sister Darlene Swanson, Nephew Allen Tonniges, Brother-in-law Art Wintermote. He is survived by his wife Harriet Tonniges Staplehurst, NE; sister-in-law Carlene Wintermote, Oak Creek, WI; nieces and nephews, Cheryl (Dwight) Blase, Grand Island, NE, Duane Tonniges, Polk, NE, Daryl Tonniges, Bradshaw, NE, Brian (Kim) Tonniges, York, NE, Cindy Tonniges, Doniphan, NE, Linda Swanson, Alexandria VA, Rod (Sherry) Swanson, Grand Island, NE, Steve (Becky) Swanson, Greeley CO and many other family and friends.
