Darrell Leon Gierhan

Darrell Leon Gierhan was born on August 20, 1935 to Victor and Leona (Maronde) Gierhan in Benedict, Nebraska. He graduated from Utica High School in 1952. On September 14, 1958, Darrell was united in marriage to Maribelle Lyle at First Baptist Church in Polk, Nebraska. He served in the Army National Guard from December 21, 1959 to January 31, 1966. Darrell was a farmer his entire life. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, motorcycles and his toy tractor collection. He loved to be outdoors and to work in his shop. He also liked to watch sports on television. He was a big Husker fan, especially football and volleyball. He also enjoyed watching Duke basketball and Kansas City Royals baseball. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church until 1971 when he became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica. Darrell passed away on June 29, 2018 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 9 days. Darrell is survived by his wife, Maribelle, Utica, Nebraska; son, Scott (Latricia Miller) Gierhan, Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter, Lisa Gierhan, Loveland, Colorado; sister, Verona (John) Schoepf, Columbus, Nebraska; grandchildren, Cale Gierhan, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lindsey Gierhan, York, Nebraska. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Leona Gierhan.
