David William Gruber was born on February 14, 1955 to Melvin and Gladys (Genz) Gruber in Greeley, Colorado. He attended Gresham High School graduating in 1973. On May 19, 2012 David was united in marriage to Julia Casarrubias Luna in Lincoln, Nebraska. He worked for Smithfield Foods as a butcher in the Harvest Department. In his free time, he enjoyed motorcycles, hunting, fishing, playing cards and cribbage. David was patient, kind and hardworking. He was always willing to help others even those he didn’t know. He was a loving father and husband who cherished time spent with his family. David passed away on May 5, 2024 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife, Julia Osorio of Lincoln, Nebraska; children, Jolene (Carlos) Barrera of Gresham, Nebraska; Ben (Tasha) Gruber of Cassville, Missouri, Josh Gruber of Mount Vernon, Missouri, Erik (Nohemi) Osorio of Cancun, Mexico, Morris Osorio of Lincoln, Nebraska and Iris Osorio of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Christen Dwerlkotte, Gabrial Dwerlkotte, Rosa Barrera, David Barrera, Caleb Gruber, Evan Gruber, Lillie Gruber, Melvin Gruber, Ruby Gruber and Aylin Osorio; great grandchild, James Dwerlkotte; siblings, Cindy (Jim) Avery of Utica, Nebraska, Florence (Larry) Hoagland of Doniphan, Nebraska and Alice Gruber of Rockford, Illinois; many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Gladys Gruber and brother, Chris Gruber.
