David Alan Rathje

David Alan Rathje, of Seward, was born on September 25, 1963 to Gerald and Roberta (Weir) Rathje in Seward, Nebraska. He attended Seward High School, graduating in 1981. He graduated from Southeast Community College in Milford. Dave’s working career included working for his dad at Jerry’s Service; Seward County Ford; City of Seward; and Napa Auto Parts in Seward. In his free time, he loved to bowl. He had Seward’s first 300 game in league play and was a member of the Seward Bowling Hall of Fame. He was an avid Husker sports fan. He liked to go to Nebraska road games and bowl games. He loved to spend time at the family cabin in the Black Hills with family and friends.  He is a former member of the Seward Jaycees, and the Seward Volunteer Fire Department. Dave passed away on May 5, 2022 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 58 years, 7 months and 10 days. He is survived by his brother, Steve Rathje of Lincoln, Nebraska; his sister, Merri (Marc) Barnes of Cripple Creek, Colorado; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Roberta Rathje; and his sister-in-law, Karen Rathje.
