Donald Otto Butzke, of Seward, was born on December 1, 1930 to Walter and Elsa (Gierhan) Butzke in Seward, Nebraska. On June 9, 1957, Don was united in marriage to Janice Martens at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Utica, Nebraska. He worked at Volzke Well Drilling and for the Village of Utica. Don served on the Utica Volunteer Fire Department for 57 years. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing and watching sports. He especially enjoyed having coffee with the boys at Bronco Spur. Don passed away on December 28, 2021 in Seward at the age of 91 years and 27 days. He is survived by his children, Kevin (Traci) Butzke, York, Nebraska, Christopher (Robin) Butzke, Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, Darin Butzke, David City, Nebraska, Robin (Robert) Ratcliffe, Lincoln, Nebraska, Karen Anthony, Lincoln, Nebraska; sister, Justine Luecke, Florida; brother-in-law, Tom (Jackie) Martens, Columbus, Nebraska, sister-in-law, Inez (Don) Scherer, Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren and great grandchildren; staff and residents at Kinship Pointe. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elsa Butzke; wife, Janice Butzke; parents-in-law; daughter, Kathryn Butzke; granddaughter, Brook Eden; brother, Wilfred Butzke; sister, Leora Dittmar.
