Doris Maier Obituary

Doris was born on March 9, 1928 to Louis and Ida (Joseph) Sagehorn in Hampton, Nebraska. She graduated from Seward High School in 1946. On September 7, 1947, Doris was united in marriage to Wilfred Maier at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, Nebraska. Doris was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family. In her free time she enjoyed bird watching, gardening and sewing. Doris was a member and past president of LWML and taught Sunday school for many years. She sang in the church choir, was a member of the Walther League and was on the Rural Election Board. Doris passed away on July 8, 2017 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 29 days. She is survived by her sons, Gary (Diane) Maier, Pueblo West, Colorado, Doug (Rita) Maier, Utica, Nebraska; daughters, Patty (Bill) Hobbs, Lincoln, Nebraska, Pam (Dennis) Graves, Seward, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Marian Maier, Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Michelle Antrim, Gary Maier II (Jennifer Van Dyke), Angelica Greve, Kaela (Chad) Stuhr, Jennifer (Mark) Heaston, Janelle Maier (Seth Bowman), Bryan Kruse (Shelly Post), Trent (Jessie) Kruse, Erin (Craig) Stoll, Kyle Hobbs, Blake Hobbs, Kevin Hobbs, Brandy Glasscock (Steve Howell); seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Ida Sagehorn; husband, Wilfred Maier; parents-in-law, Otto and Sophie Maier; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie and Emil Prochnow, Evelyn and Eman Dobrusky.
