Floyd was born on February 7, 1928 on the family farm near Staplehurst, NE to Theodore and Hulda (Pflughaupt) Baack. Shorty served in the U.S. Marines from 1946-1947. Floyd was united in marriage to Elverna Suhr on December 3, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church, Seward, NE. Floyd passed away on December 24, 1997 in Lincoln, NE at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 17 days. Floyd is survived by his wife, Elverna; two sons, Mike (Carol) Baack and Ted (Kelly) Baack; three daughters, Beverly (Allen) Hain, Darla Fisher and Larry Wilson, Diane (Kenny) Struble; two brothers, Clarence (Leora) Baack and Hershel (Ruth) Baack; sister, Wilma (Gene) Luth; sisters-in-law, Donna Baack, Jean Fehlhafer and Dorothy Baack; and 14 grandchildren. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Theo and Hulda; stepmother, Hulda; three brothers, Milton, Victor and Howard; and a baby sister.
