Freda McVey Obituary

Freda M. McVey was born on August 5, 1933 to Leland and Della (Elliott) Waechter in Lakin, Kansas. Freda graduated from Lakin High School. On May 6, 1951, Freda was united in marriage to Jack McVey at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Deerfield, Kansas. Freda worked as a bookkeeper most of her life. Following their retirement, Freda and Jack volunteered for Lutheran Church Extension Fund Laborers for Christ. In her free time Freda enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Seward Lied Senior Center. Freda passed away on March 18, 2020 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 13 days. She is survived by her daughters, Jaci (Doug) Thorburn, Seward, Nebraska, Karen (Dan) Hemsath, Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jeff and Tracy Bye, Omaha, Nebraska, Joshua Bye, Seward, Nebraska, Jessica and Craig Hanes, Seward, Nebraska, Kyle Thorburn, Lincoln, Nebraska, Keenan Thorburn, Seward, Nebraska, Bobbi Jo McVey-Blath and (Ryon Blath), Staplehurst, Nebraska, Alicia McVey, Lincoln, Nebraska, Jacob Stefonick, Lincoln, Nebraska, Melissa and Jason Quesenberry, Papillion, Nebraska, Travis Hemsath; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Harold and Rita Waechter, Garden City, Kansas; sister, Laura Heeke, Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister-in-law, Letcher Waechter, Ulysses, Kansas. Freda was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Della Waechter; husband, Jack McVey; son, Roger McVey; brothers and sister-in-law, Walter and Fern Waechter and Carl Waechter; brother-in- law, Merle Heeke.Visitation Time(s)
