Gordon Norman Wellman was born on December 31, 1949 to Norman H. and Iva Lou Wellmann in York, Nebraska. He attended Centennial High School graduating in 1968. Gordon served in the United States Navy Seabees from July 1970 to July 1972, during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked as a carpenter for Mead Lumber in York for 40 years. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, watching Nascar and collecting beer lights and memorabilia. He was a member of the Waco Volunteer Fire Department for 45 years. Gordon passed away on August 5, 2025 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 75. He is survived by his mother, Iva Lou Wellmann of Waco, Nebraska; children, Shelley (Ryan) Scheele of Utica, Nebraska; Travis (Stephanie) Wellman of Williston, North Dakota and Bryon (Ashley) Wellmann of Waco, Nebraska; brother, Gale Wellmann of Waco, Nebraska; grandchildren, Dylan (Mercedes) Scheele of Utica, Nebraska, Tiffany Scheele of Geneva, Nebraska, Alexander Wellmann and Eli Wellmann both of Waco, Nebraska; great grandson, Tripp Scheele. Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Norman Wellmann; brother Glenn Wellmann; and grandson, Henry Wellmann.
