Hubert Arthur Gloystein

Hubert Gloystein passed away on October 3, 2017 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 25 days. He was born on November 8, 1926 to George and Amalia (Naber) Gloystein. He was one of four children. He was baptized on November 28, 1926 at St. John Lutheran Church in Waco, Nebraska and was confirmed on May 12, 1940 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica, Nebraska. He attended grade school at District 51, north of Waco and St. Paul Lutheran School in Utica. He graduated from Utica High School in 1944. Hubert served his country in the United States Army from October 31, 1945 until his honorable discharge on October 26, 1946. Hubert married Eileen Dinkelman on February 20, 1949 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica. From this marriage two children were born, Bruce and Verona. They farmed in the Utica area until Hubert retired in 2001. Hubert was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church serving on various boards. He also served on local Coop boards and was a director of German Farmers Mutual Insurance of York County. He was also a member of Utica American Legion Post #49 for 39 years and a past AAL (Thrivent) President of the local chapter. He enjoyed woodworking in his free time. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, George and Amalia Gloystein; wife, Eileen Gloystein; granddaughter, Kristin Engle; brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Eleanor Gloystein; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Gerald Heiden; sister-in-law, Ruth Gloystein; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roy and Ruby Dinkelman; special friend, Dorothy Gocke. He is survived by his son, Bruce (Joan) Gloystein, Utica, Nebraska; daughter, Verona (Jerry) Engle, Geneva, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jackie (Jarrid) Farrell, Lee Gloystein, Melissa (Justin) Capek, Darin (Chelsea) Engle; great grandchildren, Zane, Jayden, Liam, Ava, Aubree and Easton; brother, Marvin Gloystein, Seward, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews.
