Imogene Hegeholz Obituary

Imogene Loida Martha (Mueller) Hegeholz was born on May 20, 1934 on the family farm northwest of Staplehurst to Chris and Frieda (Tonniges) Mueller. She attended elementary school at Zion Marysville through 8th grade and graduated from Seward High School in 1952.

On December 7, 1952 she was united in marriage to Gerald (Jerry) Hegeholz at Zion Lutheran Church Marysville. They spent the early years of marriage on the Hegeholz family farm, also located northwest of Staplehurst, where she was a busy mom and farm wife. In 1966 Jerry and Imogene purchased land just east of Staplehurst where they lived for many years.  Jerry passed away in 2008 and Imogene continued living there until June of 2021 when she moved into assisted living at Kinship Pointe in Seward. She lived there until her passing on June 6, 2024 at the age of 90 years.

In 1968 Imogene became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her career began at Seward Memorial Hospital, and later she worked for Drs. Pitsch and Jacobs in their clinics. Her final stint was the Seward Memorial Clinic, retiring in 1998. Imogene and Jerry were seen many times in the bleachers, or in the pews or chairs where they enjoyed watching their kids and grandkids compete and perform.

Imogene was a life-long member of Zion Marysville which later became Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was active in Ladies Aid and the church quilters group. She helped with many funeral lunches and actively delivered church service tapes to congregational members that were unable to attend services. She always loved doing things for others.  In retirement she enjoyed a weekly Bible study with a group of fellow Lutherans and enjoyed outings with the “Red Hat” ladies.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children: Tim (Vickie) Hegeholz of Staplehurst, Melinda (Robert) Stoll of Gresham, Brian (Deb) Hegeholz of Staplehurst and David (Karrie) Hegeholz of Lincoln; Nine grandchildren: Jodi (Russ) Andel of David City, Kerri (Andy) Drueke of Elgin, Jeana (Brenden) Fricke of Ulysses, Melissa (Jordan) Roth of Omaha, Brandon (Tracy) Hegeholz of Seward, Tyson (Alyx) Hegeholz of Seward, Kaylee (Jerrick) Dawson of Staplehurst, Ciara (Tim) Switzer of Littleton, CO and Dr. Dalton Hegeholz of Salt Lake City, UT; Fifteen great-grandchildren: Payton, Barrett and Kambri Andel, Grady, Kinley and Jory Drueke, Jaleana and Levi Roth, Harper and Tripp Dawson, Leah, Maureen, Margo and Holden Fricke, and Marlowe Hegeholz; sister-in-law, Sandi Mueller of Lincoln, brother-in-law Merle Luebbe of Seward, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Frieda (Tonniges) Mueller, father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry and Anna (Schmieding) Hegeholz, grandparents Emil and Loida Tonniges and John and Martha Mueller, sister Ardith Stuhr, brother Duane Mueller, sister-in-law Shirley Luebbe, brother-in-law Myron Stuhr, niece Jan Luebbe, and nephew Jay Luebbe, along with many other relatives.
