James Hrnicek Obituary

James (Jim) Andrew Hrnicek, of Seward, was born on July 21, 1957 to James R and Lillian (Dolezal) Hrnicek.  He attended Seward High School graduating in 1975.  On October 7, 1977 Jim was united in marriage to Linda Anderson at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward.  He worked as a farmer and at Tenneco Automotive in Seward for 20+ years.  Jim was still tending to his home farm over the past few years of his life.  Jim really liked spending time with gardening or helping Andy in any way that he could.  When it came to gardening, Jim had a big patch of sweet corn and at least 20 cucumber plants every year which led to plenty of gifts to his children and grandchildren of vegetables.  Jim really enjoyed watching all Husker sports—football, basketball, volleyball, and baseball.  His biggest passion was seeing his grandkids as often as possible and would like to hear about all of the activities they were involved in.  Jim and Linda both liked to travel to see the kids and grandkids up to shortly before Linda’s death in June of 2022.  Jim recently (July 6th) had been hospitalized for a few months.  Then he was moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa and then Webster City, Iowa  for the last several months of his life to have skilled care and then assistived living care near his family.  Jim really appreciated all the help others gave him over his last few months of life.  Jim passed away on October 28th, 2024 at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 7 days.  He is survived by his sons, Bryan (Jessica) of Webster City, Iowa, Paul (Amanda) Hrnicek of Lewis Center, Ohio, Nathan (Alicia) Hrnicek of Colby, Kansas, and Andrew Hrnicek of Colby, Kansas; grandchildren, Alayna, Aiden, Avery, Bryce, Alexander, Carsten, Morgan, Adylae, Taylor, and Ainsley; and siblings, Marie Elliot, Marjorie Jones, Irene Hrnicek, Alice Maddox, and Robert Hrnicek.  He is also survived by several in-laws and Linda’s cousins who were a big part of Jim’s life.  Jim was preceded in death by his wife Linda, his parents, James R and Lillian Hrnicek, son, Mark Hrnicek and sister Wilma Hrnicek.
