Jerry William Adams was born on November 17, 1937, to William J. and Laura L. (Koch) Adams in Seward, Nebraska. He attended both primary and high school in Garland, Nebraska, and following graduation attended Nebraska Wesleyan University. Jerry served in the Air National Guard in the 1950’s, and then pursued his favorite passion of farming in Garland, Nebraska. He began his farming career with a Dairy Farm, Livestock Cattle, and an assortment of crops, including soybeans, wheat, corn, oats, and alfalfa. Jerry held a very strong work ethic, and farmed his entire life into his 80’s until he was hospitalized for the remainder of his life. Jerry also had the heart of an adventurer, taking his daughter and friends on trips camping and canoeing down the Niobrara River, riding snowmobiles across Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, flying an Eagle Ultra-light Hang glider, and going up in a hot air balloon. Jerry could be seen on hot July afternoons riding his motorcycle through the soybean fields as he whacked weeds with one hand and drove the throttle with the other. He had a strong interest in aircrafts, space exploration, and he enjoyed watching NASCAR races after attending the Daytona 500 in Florida in the mid 1960’s. Jerry had a generous spirit and was always willing to lend a helping hand to a neighbor in need. He loved to both work hard and play hard, and loved his time with his friends, sharing with them a coffee every morning and a beer every night. He was very much loved and will be dearly missed. Jerry passed away on January 12, 2024 in Seward Nebraska at the age of 86. Jerry is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Christopher Jackson of Englewood, Colorado, his brother Ryon Adams of Lincoln, Nebraska, his brother Gene Adams of Frisco, Texas, and his nephews Matt Adams and Mason Adams of Lincoln, and his niece Stephanie Ferguson of Frisco, Texas, and his nephew Mark Adams of Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Adams, his parents, William and Laura Adams of Garland, Nebraska, and his sister-in-law, Becky Adams of Frisco, Texas. Memorial announcements will be made at a later time.
