Justin Karl Meinberg was born September 25, 1989 in Lincoln, NE. While no one beats ALS, Justin won the war after combatting the disease for nearly 5 years. His wife of 13 years Piper and daughter Cady battled alongside of him throughout. Waiting for him in heaven are his paternal grandparents, Leonard and Della (Imig) Meinberg of Seward, Nebraska, Aunt Gisela Johnson (Omaha, NE), Aunt Linda (Meinberg) Uncle Jim Pannkuk (Ashland, NE) as well as his beloved heart dog, a Jack Russel terrier named Bentley Boy Brown. Justin lives on in the hearts of his family: his grandparents Harold and Wanda Grooms (Lincoln, NE), parents Kent and Trudy Meinberg (Malcolm, NE), brother Bryan and wife Jenny Meinberg; and nephews Archer, Jayson, and Noah (Lincoln, NE), in addition to many other cherished uncles, aunts and cousins.
Justin accomplished many things over the course of his life. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 15. He began working for Shopko at 16, where he met his future wife. Justin was a class of 2008 graduate from Malcolm High School. After graduation he attended SCC and UNL. While attending school, he worked at the UNL Dental College. Justin began his professional career at Nelnet, starting in the call center and eventually making his way to processing. Justin transfered to Allo Communications as the warehouse supervisor. As his disease progressed he became a purchasing specialist for his amazingly accommodating employer.
Justin was a man of many talents. Just like his father, he was skilled in woodworking, building whatever crazy ideas his wife requested, and was a true Mr. Fix-it constantly tinkering and Macgyvering around his triplex. He dabbled in bitcoin, played console games with friends, and his brothers, worked on computers. Music was a massive part of his life participating in jazz band through throughout high school. He loved playing the piano - a passion he shared with both his mother and grandmother. He also loved to "turn up the beats" (bass) on the subs in his car - a legacy he passed down to Cady.
One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his family. Whether it was a day trip to the Omaha zoo, painting pottery at Paint Yourself Silly, dinners at HuHot or Texas Roadhouse, annual family trips to Lake of the Ozarks, playing at the park, or any other spur of the moment adventures that arose. As a true homebody, he loved spending his days at home with Piper, Cady, and "the kids" - his 3 crazy dogs.
Even though he chose to keep his diagnosis confidential from his closest friends, he kept up on their lives through social media, sharing in their joys and sorrows. His entire life was devoted to doing everything he could to provide for his family, always showing his consideration for others. Throughout his illness he never asked "why me?" or complained. He was never quick to judge, always seeing the best in everyone. Anyone who ever met Justin knew he had a quick wit and sarcastic responses always at the ready. He was a genuinely good human. He was the best of us.
The family would like to invite everyone to join them for food and fellowship at the church following the service.
Memorials should be designated to ALS of the Heartland.
