Karen Lee Schmidt

Karen Lee (Zager) Schmidt, of Seward, was born on October 18, 1935 to Alvin August and Delma L. (Dieckman) Zager in Beatrice, Nebraska.  She graduated from Crete High School in 1954.  On November 14, 1959, Karen was united in marriage to Gary Schmidt in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Karen worked for hers and her husband’s business, Gary’s Plumbing and Heating, until her retirement.  In her free time, she enjoyed reading.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved and cherished very much.  Karen passed away on October 22, 2021 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 86 years and 4 days. She is survived by her husband, Gary Schmidt, Seward, Nebraska; children, Doug Schmidt, Cathedral City, California, Karla (Jayme) Smith, Cook, Nebraska, Michelle (Greg) Mueller, Seward, Nebraska; grandchildren, Kaleigh (Tanner) Leick, Seward, Nebraska, Sydney (Max) Lorence, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Sophie (Alex) Johnston, Seward, Nebraska, Kaydon Mueller, Seward, Nebraska, Katelyn Smith, Cook, Nebraska; great grandson, Hudson Leick; brothers and sister-in-law, Don Zager, Lincoln, Nebraska, Ovid Joe and Anna Zager, Crab Orchard, Nebraska, Gary Zager, Lincoln, Nebraska, Dennis Zager, Folsom, California; sister-in-law, Charlotte Zager, Lincoln, Nebraska.  Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Delma Zager; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Zager and Judy Zager.
