Kathleen "Kathy" Schlechte Obituary
Kathy was born on March 6, 1943 to Chris and Esther (Kamprath) Vogel in Omaha, Nebraska and was baptized into the Kingdom of God at First Lutheran Church in Omaha. She attended St. John Lutheran School in Seward and was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church on April 14, 1957. in Seward, Nebraska
Kathy was graduated from Seward High School in 1961. and then attended Concordia Teacher’s College for one year. Kathy worked for the Seward County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service until she was united in marriage to Gordon Schlechte on October 6, 1973 at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, Nebraska. She and Gordon lived on a farm northeast of Utica, Nebraska for all their years of marriage where Gordon was a cattle feeder/farmer, and Kathy was a faithful wife and supporter of their farm life.
Kathy also loved to dry and arrange flowers from her garden and kept her farmyard neatly mowed, trimmed and flowering. She shared her love for Jesus as she served as a Sunday School and VBS teacher at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica, Nebraska for many years. She and Gordon hosted many Bible Studies in their home. Kathy also enjoyed Extension Club involvement with Community “ag women”.
Kathy became an active member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Seward She passed away on October 2, 2024 at Ridgewood Care Center in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 81
She is survived by brothers, James (Marilyn) Vogel, Colorado Springs Colorado and Jon Vogel, Utica, Nebraska; nephew, Aaron (Michelle) Vogel, Longmont, Colorado,; nieces, Stephanie (Vogel) Vallin (Kurt), Eagan, Minnesota, Julie (Vogel) Meyer, (Steven), Coeur D”Alene, Idaho, Amy (Vogel) Meinz (Jeffrey), Colorado Springs, Colorado and Bethany (Vogel) Olsen, (Chris), Eustis, Florida.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon and her parents, Chris and Esther (Kamprath) Vogel.
