Leon Alan Baker was born on September 13, 1954 to Francis and Iona (Hansen) Baker in Seward, Nebraska. He attended Seward High School graduating in 1972. On December 5, 1981 Leon was united in marriage to Becky Meyer at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, Nebraska. He worked as a mechanic, service station owner and sold truck parts before retiring in 2018. While in school he was involved in music, theater and Boy Scouts. As a young man he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and was a great bowler. For several years Leon coached both daughters in softball. Later he began flying remote control airplanes and was a member of the York Thunderbirds. In 2008 he planted a vineyard, growing grapes and making his own wine. He was very handy and could fix anything. Leon passed away on January 11, 2025 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife, Becky Baker of Seward, Nebraska; children, Stacy (Geoff) Marberry of Marble Falls, Texas, Andrew (Kayla) Baker of Seward, Nebraska and Jessica (Logan) Hayman of Palmer, Nebraska; grandchildren, Maci and Haley Ragsdale, Havannah Stockton, Levi Baker, Teagan, Zeke and Caroline Hayman; siblings, Garry Baker of Lincoln, Nebraska, David (Linda) Baker of Lincoln, Nebraska, Richard Baker of Seward, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Mary Meyer of Seward, Nebraska; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cindy and James Riley of Seward, Nebraska and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Iona Baker; sisters-in-law, Debbie Baker and Lisa Meyer; father-in-law, Warren Meyer.
