Leora Adele Baack (Dietze) was born to Adolph and Eva Dietze on July 25, 1924 in Gretna, NE. She was Baptized on October 28, 1924 and confirmed on May 21, 1939 at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church. She attended and graduated from Gretna Schools. She married Clarence Baack on September 22, 1943 and was blessed with 3 daughters and two sons.
After marriage she worked at Boys Town in Omaha, and the U.S. Post Office in Gretna. After Clarence returned from the service, they moved to Utica. Later they moved to the family farm north of Staplehurst, where she raised her family. After Clarence retired, they moved into Seward. For the last 3 years she lived in Ridgewood Care Center.
She was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was the oldest living member of the church. She was active in the Ladies Aid, LWML and quilting. She was also a member of the Staplehurst Women’s Club and the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #4755 in Seward. Leora had a love for playing cards but her greatest love was for her family.
Leora passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 at the age of 101 years and 9 months. Leora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; son, Edward; brothers, Russell and Dwayne; daughter-in-law, Irene Baack and son-in-law, Larry Prochaska; step granddaughter, Renae Ernesti and step grandsons, Kadan DeBuse and Nicholas Rathbone.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Charlene and Lloyd McCarter of Warrensburg, MO; James and Virginia and Baack of Lincoln, Nebraska; Kathy and James Eberly of Milford, NE and Janet Prochaska of Seward, NE; 10 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 15 step grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren and 1 step great great grandchild; sister-in-law, Charolotte Dietze and Sally Dietze; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
