Louis Pollock

Louis was born on November 6, 1918 in rural Waco, Nebraska to Robert "Ralph" and Lulu V. (Roden) Pollock. He graduated from Utica High School in 1936. Louis served in the United States Army during WWII from August 26, 1941 to November 15, 1945. He was a carpenter with Clyde Harvey Construction in Utica. Louis formed a partnership with his brothers Harold and Bob and on April 1, 1952 Pollock Bros. Implement and Hardware-John Deere Dealership in Utica was opened. On May 30, 1964, Louis was united in marriage to Irene Mailand at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, Nebraska. He served in Medical Detachment at the Carozal Station Hospital in the Panama Canal Zone. Louis was a member of Seward V.F.W. Post #4755 and a 67 year member of Utica American Legion Post #49. He was also a member of Utica Lodge #96 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. He received his 70 year pin on August 10, 2017 having been a member since 1947. He was a Bronze Jordan Medal Holder as Oldest Mason at Utica Lodge. In 2015, Louis received the Individual Masonic Achievement Award from the Grand Lodge of Nebraska for Years of Distinguished Service to Masonry in Nebraska. He was a member of Eastern Star Utica Chapter #199. He was the Worshipful Master of Utica Lodge #96 in 1952 and Treasurer of Utica Lodge for 64 years from 1953-2017. Louis enjoyed gardening and farming. He also had a dog, Penny Pup, when he was on the farm that he loved dearly. Louis passed away on August 19, 2017 in Utica, Nebraska at the age of 98 years, 9 months and 13 days. He is survived by his sister-in-law, LaRue Pollock, Seward, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert R. and Lulu Pollock; wife, Irene Pollock; sister, Lucille (Wayne) Luethje; brothers, Harold (Luella) Pollock, Marvin (Lorene) Pollock, Robert Pollock, Norman Pollock.
