Lyle Henry Ostermeier, of Rising City, was born on September 27, 1938 to Henry and Alma (Fritz) Ostermeier in David City, Nebraska. He attended elementary school at Rural School District 70. Lyle was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garrison, Nebraska. He attended David City Highschool graduating in 1957. On November 18, 1962 Lyle was united in marriage to Miriam Luebbe at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Staplehurst, Nebraska. Lyle was a full-time farmer who raised and sold seed corn. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking. He catered and made Ostermeier’s Homestyle Potato Salad Dressing. He was a connoisseur of fine foods, including smoked meats and Peeps. He was active in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church. Lyle passed away on December 27, 2023 in David City at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Miriam Ostermeier of Rising City, Nebraska; children, Karna (Kevin) Ahlschwede of Seward, Nebraska, Paul (Rebecca) Ostermeier of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mark (Sheri) Ostermeier of Crete, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren with one more due in February; and 1 great great grandchild; brother, Lynn (Elizabeth) Ostermeier of Ulysses, Nebraska; sister, Wilma Heins of Rising City, Nebraska; nieces and nephews. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alma Ostermeier; daughters, Amy and Karen Ostermeier; great granddaughter, Norah Neff; brother-in-law, Loran Heins.
