Marilee Mae (Miller) Hendrickson was born on April 6, 1936 to Emil and Rena (Bantle) Miller in Mt. Clemens, Mich. She was baptized (1936) and confirmed (1950) at Trinity Lutheran Mt. Clemens. She attended Mt. Clemens High School graduating in 1954. She graduated from Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, Ill. in 1958, where she also met Harvey Hendrickson. On June 21, 1958, Marilee and Harvey were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Clemens.
Marilee taught grades K-12 in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Missouri. In 1969, she earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. She supported the family while Harvey attended Concordia Seminary, Springfield, Ill. The family moved to Freistatt, Mo., for vicarage at Trinity Lutheran and to Woodburn, Ind., for Rev. Harvey’s first parish, Zion Lutheran. His ministry eventually took them to St. John, Storm Lake, Ia., and finally Trinity, Cole Camp, Mo. Marilee worked for the US Census Bureau several decades and served as a poll worker for various elections. In 1993, Harvey passed and Marilee moved closer to her children. Her volunteer career included ten years with the National Red Cross (including two NYC trips after 9/11), Omaha hospitals, and teaching VBS in Alaska. She also worked at H&R Block over ten years.
In her free time, Marilee enjoyed international travel with friends. Her final church home was St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Marilee passed away on May 16, 2026 in Lincoln, Nebr., at the age of 90. She is survived by her children, Christine (John) Rorabeck of Berrien Springs, Mich., Deborah (Steve) Otto of Cedar Park, Tex. and Philip (Donna) Hendrickson of Seward, Nebr.; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Marilee was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Rena Miller; husband, Harvey Hendrickson; and her brothers, Stewart and Everitt Miller.
