Marvin Gloystein Obituary

Marvin George Gloystein passed away on October 25, 2017 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 97 years, 1 month and 8 days. Marvin was born September 17, 1920 to George and Amalia (Naber) Gloystein. He was baptized on October 17, 1920 at St. John Lutheran Church south of Waco, Nebraska. His parents moved north of Waco and he attended rural school. He was confirmed on June 17, 1934 at Peace Lutheran Church in Waco. In 1937 the family moved north of Utica, Nebraska and Marvin became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica. He was united in marriage to Ruth Wolf on May 23, 1943 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Gresham, Nebraska. Marvin and Ruth lived west of Utica where they were blessed with two daughters, Jean and Janet. In 1967 they moved to the farm north of Utica. Marvin has been a farmer his entire life and a faithful member of the Lutheran church where he served on the finance board, financial secretary and elder. Marvin was also a member of the Blue Valley Amateur Radio Club. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Jean (Michael) Wittkopf, Commerce, Texas, Janet (Larry) Peterson, Appleton, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Sara Woods, Gabriel (Alicia) Wittkopf, Carrie (Robert) Endorf, David (Courtnie) Wittkopf, Matthew (Victoria Drake) Peterson, Sarah Peterson, Anna (David) Sanders; seven great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Allie, Emma, Cady, Drake, Parker and Oliver; sister-in-law, Margaret Toombs, Derby, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Gloystein; parents, George and Amalia Gloystein; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence and Eleanor Gloystein, Hubert and Eileen Gloystein; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Gerald Heiden; parents-in-law, Carl and Alma Wolf; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Fern and Harold Nuttleman, Florence and Vernon Heidtbrink; brother-in-law, Tom Toombs. Visitation Time(s)
Visitation will be Sunday, October 29, 2017,
2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
at Volzke Funeral Home
