Nichole Block Obituary

Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.  Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Nichole.

Nichole Lynn Block was born on June 11, 1976 to Tom and Jerilyn “Jeri” (Potter) Boldebuck in Seward, NE.  By God’s grace, she received the blessings of Holy Baptism on July 4, 1976, and received the rite of confirmation on April 8, 1990 both at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Staplehurst, NE.

Nichole graduated from Seward High School in 1994 and attended Wayne State for a year studying Journalism.

Nichole was united in marriage to Edgar (Ed) Block on April 12, 1997 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Staplehurst, NE. To this union they were blessed with 2 children, Natasha and Aaron.

One of Nichole’s favorite quotes was “Smile, it makes people wonder what you are up to.”  Many have said that she lit up the room with her smile.  She changed so many lives with all of the people that she came into contact with, both in her personal life and her work life.

Nichole enjoyed working with kids, working in various daycares and even watched a few children in her home when her own children were young.  She also worked at Our Redeemer school for a while assisting in various duties.

In 2011 Nichole started working with KVC Behavioral Health Care helping youth and families with in-home family support, and behavioral healthcare.  She had been a tracker at Better Living Counseling and currently had been working for Owens and Associates, Inc, a social services organization. She conducted family support and recently started her dream position working with teenagers.  Working with the most challenging teens is something she enjoyed.

At Our Redeemer Church, Nichole taught Sunday School with her mother, Vacation Bible School  and was the youth director while her children were in Youth Group.  She really enjoyed going to the National Youth Gatherings, an uplifting experience.

Nichole loved Nascar and often attended the races at Kansas Speedway with her family and parents and had been looking forward to the start of the season, watching the Daytona 500 in February. She even got her granddaughter, Sasha involved in watching races. Sasha then started cheering for her favorite driver – Go Chase!

Nichole enjoyed bowling and bowled on a league for many years and had been currently bowling on a mixed league with her family.  She even coached the High School bowling teams for a while.  She was interested in 4H and was a leader while her children were in 4H.  She liked doing things with her kids and especially spending quality time with her granddaughter.

In February of 2020, Nichole was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. She went through surgeries, chemo, and a clinical trial over the past 3 years, all the while sharing her journey on facebook with her prayer warriors and keeping a smile on her face and a positive attitude because she knew that God was beside her in this challenge.

On January 10, 2023, having reached the age of 46 years, 7 months, 30 days, God graciously received Nichole from this vale of tears to His eternal home in heaven.

Nichole is survived by her husband, Ed Block; children, Natasha Block and Aaron Block; grandchild Sasha Craig; parents Tom and Jeri Boldebuck; Grandmother, Viola Boldebuck-Zwick; parents in law, Ken and Marlene Block; brothers in law, David (Beth) Block, Paul (Emily) Block; and sisters in law, Denise (John) Carley, Dawn (Bruce) Schoepflin, Lois (Todd) Brown, and Dorene Davies, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends

Nichole was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Tim Block, grandparents, Edward and Elda Potter and Ewald Boldebuck

Nichole will be laid to rest in Our Redeemer Cemetery to await the glorious day of the resurrection of all the dead.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”

(Psalm 116:15)
