Rex Lee Owens was born on June 8, 1936, to Cleo and Constance (Pariset) Owens in Seward, Nebraska. He graduated from Seward High School in 1953. On August 16, 1958, Rex was united in marriage to Wanda Hischke at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Rex farmed his whole life. In his free time, he enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s events, being on the farm, bowling with friends, fishing, hunting and bus trips with Wanda. In his later years he liked tending to his yard and flowers. Rex passed away on December 27, 2024, at the age of 88. Rex is survived by his wife, Wanda Owens of Seward, Nebraska; children, Mark (Elizabeth) Owens of Seward, Nebraska, Jennifer Owens of Seward, Nebraska, Melissa (Bill) Schuman of Marysville, Washington and Matthew (Lisa) Owens of Seward, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jordan (Kim) Owens, Kate (Blake) Pittack, Jason (Rebecca) Owens, Sasha (Lee) Imig, Tara Bell, Mikhail Guenther, Abby (Brandon) Wetzel, Kyle Schuman, Zach (Allee) Owens, Jessica (Tom) Malander and Amanda (Carl) Heinicke; 20 great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Borchers; and brother, Kenny (Sharon) Owens. Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Constance Owens; parents-in-law, Theodore and Irene Hischke; brother-in-law, Delmar Borchers.
