Richard Eberspacher Obituary

Richard Roy Eberspacher, of Beaver Crossing, was born on April 24, 1941 to Harold and Gladys (Fosler) Eberspacher in Seward County, Nebraska.  He graduated from Seward High School after transferring from Beaver Crossing before his junior year.  He then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he was an active member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.  He graduated with a degree in Agricultural Economics in 1963.

On June 15, 1963, Richard was united in marriage to Karen Kay Alseth in Omaha, Nebraska.  Richard's first job out of college in 1963 was working in California for DuPont as a salesman, traveling the Sacramento Valley.  It was during this time in California that Rich and Karen's twins were born.  In 1968, Rich took the opportunity to work for DuPont in Florida as a citrus specialist.  A few years later, DuPont wanted to promote Rich with a position at the home office in Delaware, but he and Karen wanted to raise their family in the Midwest. Consequently, Rich moved his family to Albert Lea, Minnesota, where he worked for Allied Mills.

After a tragic car accident in 1972 involving his parents, Rich moved his family back to his family's farm near Beaver Crossing, Nebraska.  In 1978, Rich and Karen's second son was born. During his 53 years of farming, Rich primarily raised cattle, commercial corn, seed corn, and soybeans.  Over the years, he was able to expand the family farm and embraced center-pivot irrigation.

Rich was skilled at finding ways to diversify and support the farming operation. In 1999, after several years of working with Pfizer on cattle studies, Rich and Karen moved off of the family farm to Valparaiso, Nebraska. They purchased a cattle facility from Pfizer where Rich managed large groups of cattle for studies while he continued to farm near Beaver Crossing. After selling the Pfizer facility in 2012, Rich and Karen moved to Lincoln where Rich still commuted to farm with his family.

Rich "retired" at the end of harvest in 2024, but he was still driving out from Lincoln to help on the farm.  The farm was his life, and retirement couldn't stop him from helping with the 2025 harvest. He faithfully drove from Lincoln to drive the grain cart, and his help was greatly appreciated.  In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, flying, and farming. He and Karen have also been "Snowbirds" in Tubac, Arizona since 2012.

Richard passed away on January 18, 2026 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 84.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Gladys Eberspacher; brothers, H. Robert (Jenny) Eberspacher, Wesley Eberspacher, Dennis (Sharon) Eberspacher. Richard is survived by his wife, Karen Eberspacher of Lincoln, Nebraska; son, Curt (Angie) Eberspacher of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska; grandchildren, Emily (Alex) Shook of Newport, Nebraska and their daughter, Scarlett; Hanah and Sarah Eberspacher of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska; daughter, Christine Eberspacher of Lincoln, Nebraska; and son, Jon (Jill) Eberspacher of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska and their children, Jena, Jackie and Joshua; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Eberspacher of Exeter, Nebraska.
