Richard "Dick" Stillahn Obituary

Dick went to be with his Savior on December 2, 2022 with his family by his side.  He was born to Erich and Clara (Ahrens) Stillahn on the family farm on December 31, 1938.  He was baptized on January 15, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church (Middle Creek) and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church on April 6, 1952.  Dick graduated from Seward High School in 1956.  On December 15, 1963 Dick was united in marriage to Rolene Brinkmeyer at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward.  He served in the United States Army National Guard from 1957-1965. Following high school Dick worked at Safeway until 1961 when he started working at Jones Bank.  He was Senior Vice President/Ag Loan Officer until his retirement in 2005.  During this time, he also ran the family farm which he took over when his dad retired in the early 1970’s.  Dick continued running the family farm until just a few years ago.  Over the years he belonged to many organizations including Board of Directors for Jones Bank, Red Cross,  Seward Jaycees (past President), Secretary of Seward County Fair Board from 1966-1976, Board of Directors for Seward Memorial Health Care Systems from 1998-2006 and a member of Kiwanis Club (past president).  He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where he served on various boards.  Dick was the recipient of the Seward County Hall of Agricultural Achievement in 2005 and the 4th of July Seward County Community Service Award in 2019.  He enjoyed being a member of Crossmakers, traveling and especially spending time with family and friends.  Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Rolene Stillahn of Seward, Nebraska; children, Julie (Joe) Daws of Victorville, California, Clark (Charisse) Stillahn of Seward, Nebraska and Stacie (Jay) Jurrens of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Drew Daws, Erich, Elias, Avery and Mattie Stillahn, Kenzie and Alex Jurrens; sister, Janet Buel of Chandler, Arizona; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gil and Kathy Livo of Riverview, Michigan; nieces and Nephews.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Erich and Clara Stillahn; parents-in-law, John and Lenora Brinkmeyer; brother-in-law, Dwain Buel; sister-in-law, Willa Brinkmeyer.
