Tryus Marie Rathjen

Tryus Marie Rathjen was born August 21, 1935 to Glenn and Elizabeth (Haberman) Martin in David City, Nebraska. She graduated from David City High School 1953. On May 23, 1953, Tryus was united in marriage to Duane Rathjen at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Rising City, Nebraska. Tryus worked at Ben Franklin as a clerk and framer for 27 years. She was also a housewife and enjoyed taking care of her family. Tryus was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and a volunteer at Lied Senior Center. She was also a Life Alert contact for her neighbor. In her free time she enjoyed walking with her husband, hand in hand. She liked gardening, flowers, embroidery and baking. She also enjoyed sitting in her garage, watching people go by. Tryus passed away on May 4, 2018 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 13 days. She is survived by her son, Phillip (Valerie) Rathjen, Bend, Oregon; daughter, Phyllis (Steve) McCown, Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Justeen Rathjen, York, Nebraska; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Cyril) Roulet, Heather Breaux; sister, Lois Osantowski, Lakewood, Colorado. Tryus was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Rathjen; parents, Glenn and Elizabeth Martin; sons, Randy Rathjen, Raymond Rathjen, Mark Rathjen; sisters, Doris Rodriguez, Betty (Tom) Birkel; brother-in-law, Rollin Osantowski.
