Virginia Elizabeth Jeary was born on March 22, 1931 to Walter and Bonalyn (Dixon) Jeary. She attended Seward High School graduating in 1948. Following high school Virginia attended Nebraska Wesleyan and then earned her Masters’ Degree in Education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She began her teaching career in a one room school house north of Seward at Lehigh School. Following that she spent the remainder of her time teaching 3rd grade in Norfolk, also serving as the principal for a number of years. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She was an active member of Order of the Eastern Star #132 and Seward Grange #399. Virginia passed away on August 27, 2025 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 94. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Beth Eberspacher, Pam (Rick) McConnell, Clark (Nancy) Jeary, Gary (Joy) King, Sheryl Flatt (Karl Detweiler) Bruce (Judy) King, Alan (Kate) Batchelder, Dana (Tom) Beene; many great and great great nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Bonalyn Jeary; brother, Robert (Jeannie) Jeary; sisters, Glema (Mel) King and Genevieve (Dale) Batchelder.
