William “Bill” Willis Pfenning was born on March 25, 1947 to Daniel “Don” and Katherine (Schanaman) Pfenning in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He attended Scottsbluff High School graduating in 1965. Bill served in the United States Air Force from June 1967 to June 1971. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for Nebraska Public Power District in Scottsbluff, and then later transferred to York, until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors – hunting, fishing, camping, spending time with his dogs, and restoring vehicles (which is how he got his nickname, Chevy) – and watching old Westerns and NASCAR. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in York, the America Legion, and the Lions Club. He also served as a leader in Boy Scouts of America and on the Fairmont Village Board. Bill passed away on July 31, 2024 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 77. He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Tony) Conell of Utica, Nebraska and Jason Pfenning (fiancée, Shari Horn) of Gretna, Nebraska; grandchildren, Krayton (Ben) Koski, Braydon Conell, Kamryn Pfenning and Dalton Pfenning. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Katherine Pfenning.
