So very sorry to read the news. May Jesus continue to hold you close to Him as you grieve now and look forward to the blessed reunion in Heaven.

Galen Family, I was on the Evangelism Committee with Betty at St. John. We also attended the same Bible Class on Sunday mornings. Betty always had a smile on her face and was very positive about everything. She will certainly be missed by everyone who knew her. I pray that you will be comforted by knowing that she is now in Heaven.

Chris and Luke, I met your Mom when you two were at St.Johns school with my kids. we were in LWML all these years and lots of other activies, I know how much she loved to sing and so good at it. When we were on the Evangelism Bd. they ask us to help out at the information booth every Sunday and there she would tell me all about you boys she was so proud of both of you. she was so much fun, I will miss her so much, but she is singing with the Angels now. Hallelujah! Lorna Graff

Christopher and Luke, I am so sorry for your loss. She was so proud of her family and spoke often of you. Betty and I drove together for Bible Study and I enjoyed visiting with her. She was such an energetic and friendly lady! Perfect for the greeting desk at St. John. Her enthusiasm for Christ’s ministry thru LWML and church service will be missed. How appropriate for her to join with Christ’s angels at Easter! She will love the singing!

So sorry to hear this, Betty was such a "giggly, friendly" gal. Thoughts and Prayers to the family.

I am so sorry for your loss, but I know that Betty is rejoicing with Jesus now. She was my voice teacher in college, and it was a blessing to know her also as a fellow congregation member the past many years. Yes, she was one of the most upbeat people I've ever had the pleasure to know. Happiest of Easters, Betty!

It has been a blessing to know Betty for at least 50 years. I got to know her best in a home Bible study group we went to for years. I always admired her exuberant positive attitude. She and I often talked about our common love of singing. I remember that one or two of our teenagers were babysitters for Luke. To both of you, Christopher and Luke, we send our sympathy. We can be thankful that you were blessed to have her with you for 89 plus years.

Betty was truly an institution in Seward. I remember her beautiful voice from my high school days, for sure. After returning to Seward to live, it was my great honor to sing with her in St. John choir. Betty's greatest joys were her faith and her family. God be with you!

To Betty's family - There was a reason that Betty was deeply connected in this community. Her constant smile and energetic way of moving was contagious! I first had her as my voice teacher (for my one and only semester of voice lessons), and continued to see her through St. John and Concordia activities with her constant involvement there. I will miss her most on Sunday mornings as she was the fixture behind the hospitality desk. I would tease her and her partner in crime as they would come into church late- they had to make sure they smiled at and helped everyone possible. Much love to her family as you both celebrate and mourn.

It was always a joy to see Betty, whether at the library, St. John or at CU. We will miss her smile greatly! May God's peace be with you all during this time! Wendy & Andy Schultz

Betty was first my voice teacher, then my colleague, and ultimately a treasured mentor and friend. I will NEVER forget her very melodic proclamation that I needed to sing from the top of my head (complete with gestures). I last saw Betty while honoring another friend who had died. It was shortly after losing my own mom, and Betty somehow made me laugh and appreciate that we would all be together in heaven some day. I am SO sorry that I won't have the chance to smile at her stories and laugh with her; yet, I know that I will see her again. I pray for all whose lives will be less musical and less beautiful without her--including mine.

This is Chris Galen, Betty's oldest son. I wanted to share with others who visit this page that my brother and our families appreciate the Seward community that supported Betty since 1961! She had a full and active life until very recently, and left with no regrets. I do regret we won't be able to plan a proper service until we can be less socially distant, so please be patient that a celebration of life (she didn't want a funeral!) service will be in the works hopefully this summer.
