Nora was born on the family farm on May 4, 1906, near Waco, NE to Peter and Neva (Grass) Able. She had one brother, Jay, who died at age 17 from a brain tumor. Bell married Elroy Kottke in 1927 and they had one son, Gene Kottke. Elroy was killed in a tractor/truck collision in 1946. In 1950, Nora married Alfred Blum of Waco, NE. Alfred was a WWII Veteran that had gone through the Battle of the Bulge and he received many medals and commendations for his service. He died of a heart attack in 1964. Nora passed away on September 4, 2008, at the Legend Oaks Nursing Home in Gladewater, TX at the age of 102. She is survived by a son and his wife, Gene and Janet Kottke of Big Sandy, TX; grandchildren, Michael and wife, Pam Kottke of Leslie, AR and Kathy and her husband Larry Finley of Palestine TX; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Esther Uffleman, Dorothy Blum and Vera Blum; Nora was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jay; husbands, Elroy Kottke and Alfred Blum; brother-in-law, Ed Uffleman.
